The Benefits of Using a Food Log Journal
The advantages of maintaining a food journal are way more than simply calorie counting.
A food journal is an incredible accountability tool. Using one makes you aware of your daily dietary decisions throughout the day.
By using a food log journal consistently you’ll figure out your dietary preferences, and discover which foods work best for your body.
Tracking your meals will help you uncover patterns and behaviors that otherwise may go unnoticed.

How Do You Make A Daily Food Log?
If you prefer to create your own personalized food log diary instead of utilizing the one in this post, the process is quite straightforward.
Here’s a step-by-step guide with ideas on how to make a daily food log:
1. Choose Your Format
Decide whether you want to keep a physical journal, use a digital app, or create a custom template on your computer.
2. Start with a Header
At the top of each log entry, include the date and any additional information you find important, such as your weight or specific health and fitness goals.
3. Record Meals and Snacks
Throughout the day, document everything you eat and drink. You’ll want to be as specific as possible.
4. Note the Time
Write down the time you consume each meal or snack. Keeping track of the time can help you spot eating patterns and any areas that may need improvement.
You’ll also discover what foods work best for you at certain times of the day.
5. Track Your Water Intake:
Record your daily water intake in ounces or milliliters.
6. Record Your Hunger Level
After each meal or snack, note your hunger level on a scale, such as from 1 to 5 (1 being not hungry and 5 being very full).
7. Monitor Your Mood
What you eat can affect your mood. Noting how you feel before or after a meal can help you identify how different foods and feelings affect your eating habits.
8. Include Any Additional Notes
Each day designate a space on your food log to jot down any notes related to your eating.
9. Be Consistent
Being consistent is key to gaining a clear picture of your eating habits.
If you don’t use your food journal every day, then you may miss important information that could affect your results.
10. Review Your Food Log
Periodically review your food log. Doing so will help you to identify trends, patterns, and areas where you can make healthier choices.
