Easy Butterfly Drawing Ideas
One of my favorite things about drawing a butterfly is that there are so many ways to make each butterfly drawing unique.
You can experiment with your own drawings by giving the butterfly differently shaped wings, using a variety of colors, or even different facial expressions.
In this post, I share several cute and easy butterfly drawing ideas that I created. I’ve also included a drawing with step-by-step instructions for how to draw a butterfly.
Remember, don’t worry about being perfect with your butterfly drawings. These are meant to be simple, just let your creativity flow onto paper.

1. Cute Butterfly Drawing with Glasses
With this butterfly drawing I wanted to use a lot of color, a cute facial expression, showing extra personality with the glasses.
2. Easy Flower and Butterfly Doodle
Here you can see that I’ve draw three simple flowers with two butterflies fluttering over them.
3. Easy Heart Butterfly Drawings
To create these butterflies I used hearts. I drew two hearts sideways with the bottom of the hearts touching. I then drew a body and head over the center and filled them in.

6. Step-By-Step How To Draw An Easy Butterfly
Step 1: Start by drawing the head of the butterfly with antennae. I like to use a circle for the head and then two lines coming up from the top of the circle for the antennae.
Step 2: Draw the body of the butterfly. This can be a long oval shape with a point on the bottom.
Step 3: Draw the top wings. The top wings extend out from where the base of the head and the body meet on each side.
Step 4: Draw the bottom wings.
Step 5: Draw designs on the inside of the butterfly wings. You can follow the pattern of the shape of the wings or try something entirely different.
I love to experiment with a variety of different shaped wings and wing designs.

To create the wings of these butterflies I used 2 simple squiggle lines.

Here I’ve taken the same easy butterflies from above and drawn a body, head, and antennae on them.

To create this butterfly line drawing, I started by drawing a heart and kept my pen to paper as I continued up to draw the wings and head of the butterfly in one swoop. Lastly, I filled in the head and body and drew the antennae.

One of the easiest ways to draw butterfly wings is by using the number 3. Begin by drawing a 3 and then another 3 to the left of it but backwards so that it is mirroring the original 3. This will give you a cute set of butterfly wings.
